Working with strings.xml file
suggest changeA string resource provides text strings for your application with optional text styling and formatting. There are three types of resources that can provide your application with strings:
String
XML resource that provides a single string.
Syntax:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<resources>
<string name="string_name">text_string</string>
</resources>
And to use this string in layout:
<TextView
android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:text="@string/string_name" />
String Array
XML resource that provides an array of strings.
Syntax:
<resources>
<string-array name="planets_array">
<item>Mercury</item>
<item>Venus</item>
<item>Earth</item>
<item>Mars</item>
</string-array>
Usage
Resources res = getResources();
String[] planets = res.getStringArray(R.array.planets_array);
Quantity Strings (Plurals)
XML resource that carries different strings for pluralization.
Syntax:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<resources>
<plurals
name="plural_name">
<item
quantity=["zero" | "one" | "two" | "few" | "many" | "other"]
>text_string</item>
</plurals>
</resources>
Usage:
int count = getNumberOfsongsAvailable();
Resources res = getResources();
String songsFound = res.getQuantityString(R.plurals.plural_name, count, count);
