Installing typescript, typings and webpack globally

npm install -g typescript typings webpack

Installing loaders and linking typescript

npm install --save-dev ts-loader source-map-loader npm link typescript

Linking TypeScript allows ts-loader to use your global installation of TypeScript instead of needing a separate local copy typescript doc

installing .d.ts files with typescript 2.x

npm i @types/react --save-dev
npm i @types/react-dom --save-dev

installing .d.ts files with typescript 1.x

typings install --global --save dt~react
typings install --global --save dt~react-dom

// When importing a module whose path matches one of the following, just
// assume a corresponding global variable exists and use that instead.
// This is important because it allows us to avoid bundling all of our

finally run webpack or webpack -w (for watch mode)
